Rocinante

For the past couple of months I have worked with Mass, a design agency in the UK, to develop an illustration for Bottle Green Ltd. for a label for a new wine from the La Mancha region of Spain. The designer at Mass found my drawing Don Quixote, and after several revisions of label designs, I was asked if I could develop a new variation of the drawing. Instead of Don Quixote on Rocinante, Don Quixote departed and Rocinante alone emerged.

“Undoing” a drawing, so to speak, and giving it a new life in another form, was a new experience for me. All of my drawings are spontaneous, and on-the-fly. It was harder than I thought to draw something for anyone other than myself. But it has been a lovely experience. Stay tuned for images of the wine labels themselves, & if you’re in the UK, you’ll be able to get the wine some time next year. More on that to come.
